Child Support

Child Support

Under the law, both parents are obligated to financially support their child.  The support obligation can be terminated in several ways under certain conditions.

A parent or legal custodian of a child can seek child support from the child’s parent(s) and a parent paying support has the right to seek a termination of support at the appropriate time.  Given the complexity of the laws in this area, knowing when that “appropriate time” is can often be hard to figure out.  Fink & Katz can help you navigate these complexities to ensure that you are paying or receiving the appropriate level of child support for the appropriate time period.  We can also assist fathers and mothers in establishing paternity – i.e. proving who the father of the child is.

Our office assists clients with all aspects of child support proceedings, including paternity hearings, in both Family Court and Supreme Court as appropriate.
